We're continuing our Small Things. Big Difference. challenge—looking for simple ways each week to encourage others and make a difference in the lives of the people around us.
Week 3 — I Prayed for You Today
We say it often: “I'll pray for you.” And hopefully, we do. But have you ever received a message from someone that simply said: “I prayed for you today.”
There's something comforting about knowing someone took your name and your situation to God. We don't always know what to say when someone is hurting. We can't fix every problem. We don't have answers for every situation. But we can pray. And sometimes letting someone know that we prayed for them can be an encouragement all by itself.
James 5:16 reminds us:
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Maybe someone comes to mind as you're reading this. Don't ignore that thought. Stop for a moment and pray for them.
This Week's Small Things Challenge
Choose one person and pray specifically for them this week. Then take one extra step. Send them a text, give them a call, or tell them when you see them: “I prayed for you today.” You don't need to know all the details. You don't need to have the right words. Sometimes knowing someone cared enough to pray is exactly the encouragement a person needs.
