We're continuing our Small Things. Big Difference. challenge—looking for simple ways each week to encourage others and make a difference in the lives of the people around us.

Week 2 — Tell Them They Made a Difference

There are people who have made a difference in our lives and probably have absolutely no idea they did.  Maybe it was a teacher who believed in you.  A Sunday School teacher who taught you something you've never forgotten.  A friend who showed up during a difficult time.

Someone who prayed for you.  A coworker who helped you when you were struggling.  Or maybe someone said something years ago that you still remember today.  Have you ever told them?  Sometimes we assume people know how much we appreciate them. But they may not.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 says:

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”

What if this week we gave someone the opportunity to hear that they mattered. You don't need to write a long letter. A phone call or text could simply say:

“I don't know if I've ever told you this, but something you did for me made a difference in my life. I just wanted you to know I've never forgotten it.”

Imagine receiving that message unexpectedly.

This Week's Small Things Challenge

Think of one person who helped you in some way and probably doesn't know the impact they had.  Contact them.  Tell them.  Don't wait for someday to tell someone they made a difference.
