As we celebrate the Fourth of July and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy as a nation, we are reminded of another freedom that is even greater — the freedom we find through faith in Jesus Christ.
Freedom is something many people long for. Freedom from fear, guilt, worry, loneliness, hurt, and the burdens we carry each day. While the world often looks for peace and freedom in circumstances, God reminds us that true freedom begins in the heart.
Through Christ, we are given hope, forgiveness, grace, and the promise that we never walk through life alone. His love frees us from the weight of sin and reminds us that we are deeply loved and never forgotten.
As we gather with family and friends this holiday season, enjoy fireworks, cookouts, and celebrations, it is also a wonderful time to pause and give thanks — not only for the freedoms we have as Americans, but also for the spiritual freedom and peace we can find in God.
I have often found that some of the most meaningful moments happen in the middle of simple gatherings — sitting together with family, sharing stories, praying over meals, laughing together, and remembering how blessed we truly are. Those moments remind us that freedom is not just about independence, but also about gratitude, faith, and the ability to love and support one another.
At Muncie Baptist Church, we are thankful for the freedom to gather together openly in worship, prayer, and fellowship. We continue praying for our country, our communities, and for hearts to be drawn closer to God.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
— John 8:36
May this season be filled with gratitude, joy, peace, and the reminder that true freedom is found in Christ.
