One of the simple joys around Muncie Baptist Church has been painting rocks with encouraging words, Bible verses, and reminders of God’s love. These small rocks may seem simple, but sometimes the smallest things can carry the biggest message.
During the COVID season, Nathan and I began painting rocks and placing them along the rail trail. We would often go back the next day to see if anyone had picked up the rocks we left behind. It was a simple act, but it brought us so much joy knowing that someone may have found a little encouragement exactly when they needed it.
There is something special about being somewhere unexpected and finding a rock placed there at just the right moment. A kind word, a verse of hope, or a reminder that God sees you can brighten a day and encourage a heart in ways we may never fully know.
Each week, painted rocks are available for anyone to take. We invite you to pick one up and place it somewhere for someone else to find—a park bench, sidewalk, workplace, or anywhere a message of hope may be needed.
And if you find one that speaks to your own heart, please feel free to keep it. Sometimes God places encouragement in our path exactly when we need it most.
If there is a special word, name, verse, or message that would be meaningful to you or someone you love, custom rocks can also be made. Please let Connie know, and she would be happy to create one especially for you.
We pray these little rocks become reminders that God’s love is present in everyday moments and that kindness can travel farther than we realize.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Be sure to check each week and see what message may be waiting for you.
